Purchasing and Installing Windows

With this in mind, we suggest starting to look at your options during the colder months, when business is slower and less people are thinking about window replacements. During this time, businesses may be slower, which may mean they’re more willing to offer deals and incentives. By the time the warmer months come around, window companies are usually must busier, and it’s likely that their prices will be higher.
Start looking early, and search for promotions and sales that are going on. If you’ve got a place to store them, this is a great way for you to get a deal on windows that you won’t need to have installed until warmer months when the installation process is easier. If the company you’re ordering from keeps the windows in storage for you, keep in mind that they may have a limit on how long you can have them stored for.
Installing Windows in the Fall and Winter
If you are not against installing windows in the wintertime, there is the potential for certain advantages during this time. Advantages to installing in the colder months include:
- Less bugs and insects inside the house
- Flexible installation schedule
- No heat or humidity to worry about during installation
- Re-scheduling is also fairly flexible based on weather issues
Depending on the weather you have in the colder months, window installation may take a little bit longer than it would in warm weather. Keep this in mind, since areas of the home that are undergoing the installation may be colder for a few days. Try to keep inner doors closed in colder rooms, and use heavy blankets to close off the area around the window to contain as much heat as possible.
Installing Windows in the Spring and Summer
Lots of people don’t even consider installing their windows in the wintertime, so it’s no surprise that the warmer months are usually packed with installations. However, there are also advantages to having this kind of project taken care of in the spring and summer:
- No problem with cold weather coming in
- Easier access to windows
- Shorter installation time
- Saves on air conditioning costs
At the end of the day, there is no perfect time to have your new windows installed. The best time is whenever it works best for you, and those you live with. Since there are advantages to installing in both the warm and cold seasons, there is no wrong time to have this time of project completed.
